Mute Swans on the Lake
The lake normally supports only two adult mute swans together with that year’s offspring. By now, the youngsters have usually been banished so the parents can start to focus on this year’s breeding. This autumn and winter, however, there have been around four or five extra adult swans on the lake, presumably a small group of non-breeding juveniles. There may well be battles over territory as the hormones begin to stir.
