Dave Dawson’s natural history notes for 27th November 2015:-

At least one brood of Great-crested Grebes has been reared this year, as two well grown young accompany the four adults. Mute Swan numbers remain high, at 50 birds. Six Pochards have come to spend the winter, and two Little Grebes remain. The deciduous trees have mainly lost their leaves, although the autumn colours bring the few Norway Maples in Horse Close Wood into prominence. Holly and Laurestine and both the native and Japanese honeysuckles were in flower in the hedgerow north of the stadium.
