Join the Friends of Wimbledon Park to celebrate Capability Brown – the landscape designer who created this well-loved Grade II* heritage landscape.

On Sunday 24th September you are invited to accompany us on a walk around Wimbledon Park and the lake, with talks on the park’s history and ecology along the route.

Meet at the Wimbledon Park Road gate to the park at 2pm. The walk will describe Capability Brown’s Park and the heritage that remains from it. We will hear about natural history, historic vistas, trees, Horse Close Wood, Capability Brown’s lake, the ancient Ashen Grove Wood and the development of the public park, Golf Course and The Wimbledon Club. The walk will continue out of the public park to Home Park Road and back in past the golf clubhouse. From there we walk around the edge of the lake to the Wimbledon Club. At the Club there will be further talks and display material on the history of the Park from last year’s exhibition, and information on future plans for the Park.

Refreshments at the Wimbledon Club will cost £7.50 per adult and £4.50 per child. Please pay in advance from https://www.twcsport.co.uk/home/tickets or from Reception at the Club Tel 020 8971 8090 (Option1)
