We are please to be able to make available to members and associates of FOWP, three important and fascinating documents about the park and its heritage landscape – follow the links below.
The Glasspoole Thomson Report is a feasibility study commissioned in 1998 by LB Merton. Produced by Landscape architects Glaspoole Thomson, it:
- evaluated the potential for restoration of the park,
- looked at the wider conservation issues; and,
- identified the costs, priorities and the case for implementation of the recommendations.
It’s an interesting report covering all aspects of the park in detail, and should the project to restore the lake go ahead, this will be the starting point – click the link to download the report. Glaspoole Thomson Report
We also have two reports of the Wimbledon North (Wimbledon Park) Conservation Area, commissioned by LB Merton and LB Wandsworth in 2006 and which appraise the architectural and historical characteristics of the park and surrounds. The reports were produced in accordance with government guidelines that required local planning authorities to define and record the special interest, character and appearance of all conservation areas in their care. Both reports include historical and environmental attributes of the park, including the buildings, facilities, nature and wildlife, and cover the nature of the houses in Home Park Road alongside the park.
