Friends of Wimbledon Park (FOWP) was created in 2012 after local residents
decided there should be an umbrella organisation to bring together all the
different groups that own, control or use Wimbledon Park.
Our aim is to have a friendly forum where interested parties and individuals
can share views about the park and its facilities, and take a more ‘joined up’
approach to decision-making about its future.
The FOWP committee meets quarterly, and regular updates are circulated to all
members via an email newsletter. Smaller groups (such as those interested in
wildlife, sports, events etc) are formed to tackle particular issues and projects.
The management of FOWP is overseen by an executive committee, whose
members are elected at the AGM.
Our growing membership includes:
- individuals who use and enjoy the park
- sporting organisations such as the Wimbledon Club and the Wimbledon Park
- residents’ associations such as Wimbledon Park Residents’ Association,
Southfields Grid Residents’ Association and Wimbledon House Residents’
- local businesses
FOWP is also supported by local MPs, councillors, and park officers from Merton
