Saturday 21 March 2015: Wimbledon Park
Meet at 10 am at the Home Park Road entrance to the park. Leader: Dave Dawson, approximately 2 1/2 hours.
The park is a remnant of a Capability Brown landscape, with a large lake and an old wood. It is now surrounded by London suburbia and managed as a District Park for multiple use. We will be introduced to its nature conservation value. Expect to see breeding birds and spring wild flowers; both those that continue to thrive in this bit of “encapsulated countryside” and others more newly arrived. Bring binoculars.
