Our Ecology Adviser, Dave Dawson, is giving a free Lecture on the history of Wimbledon Park for the Wimbledon Society next Thursday – see http://www.wimbledonsociety.org.uk/activities.aspx?page=Lectures.  Details as follows if you would like to attend:-

Thursday 9 November at 2pm “Wimbledon Park – a History”

Dr Dave Dawson shares with us his research on our local connection with a figure of national importance. Wimbledon Park owes much to the imagination of landscape architects although its origins date back far earlier. Lancelot “Capability” Brown was commissioned by the second Earl Spencer in the late eighteenth century, and features of his contribution survive.

The venue is Lounge, Emmanuel Church, 24 Ridgway, Wimbledon SW19 4QN.
